Coal mining has been an integral part of the Macarthur region, particularly in the Wollondilly Shire for over 100 years. During that time, Illawarra Coal, a subsidiary of BHP Billiton has earned the reputation of being a highly responsible corporate citizen, providing countless jobs and investing millions of dollars in the community. But what goes largely unrecognised is the valuable contribution they make to the environment. Just one of these means is by way of grants to community groups such as ours.
Illawarra Coal provided the Children's Hope Foundation with a grant of $5,000 to assist with the landscaping in the playground area that we are establishing at Beverley Park School.
Our thanks go to John Brannon, General Manager of Sustainable Development and External Affairs and his staff, Colin, Zina, Jennifer, Rosanne & Lauren, as well as the grants committee for responding to our request. To read about Illawarra Coal and their sustainable development, Click here .
Big Brown Box

Pete Eaton of Big Brown Box responded without hesitation to our request for assistance. Just like Harvey Norman did the previous year, Pete organised a giant full definition plasma television, which helped raise thousands of dollars for the foundation.
