McAlpine Family
Something we are in awe of is the spirit of our community. The McAlpine family is such a wonderful example,
Early in 2010 we received a phone call from daughter Kira with the message "we've raised some money and we'd like to donate it to your charity". She went on to say that over Christmas 2009, her family and neighbours had put together a huge street display. It was such a popular attraction that people had driven and walked from all around to see it. Her family and neighbours put together items like "reindeer food" that sparkled, a sausage sizzle, drinks and of course warm hospitality. It was so popular, they left a bucket for voluntary donations out the front.
I asked "Wow, that's amazing, How much did you raise Kira?". She replied "Over $1,200".
Needless to say, we were blown away by that gesture. But there was more to come, bigger and better. They did it again in 2010. Supporters such as the coffee man and Mt Annan Meats & Deli jumped on board and supplied their specialities. The result; $1,712.
Below are some photos from 2010. Hopefully, you can catch them again this year. Kids and parents alike love their fantastic Christmas display and you'll be helping a great cause. Whether it's ours or another, you gotta love this place!
