Annual Dinner 2008

A fantastic night!  Our list of thanks is even longer than last year.

First and foremost are the attendees who turned up, put their hand up and raised over $30,000 (exact amount to be confirmed) after all costs. This money goes directly to providing the kids of Beverley Park with much needed facilities, including the Liberty Swing (see right).

James O'LoghlinOur star attraction for the night, comedian James O'Loghlin has a special connection with the Liberty Swing. James is the host of the ABC's popular "New Inventors" program, and the swing was  a  winning invention in 2004

James had the audience entertained, not only with a great interview with Michelle Laval, acting principal of Beverley Park School, but also with a fantastic comedy routine.

Crowd 2008 Function

Along with our foundation sponsors, there were some notable supporters on the night. Many donated outstanding items for our auctions and raffle, as well as making generous bids. For a complete list, go to our Friends & Contributors page. But to name just a few outstanding contributors:

- Paul Buch of Ruse Tavern (again)
- Pete Eaton of "Big Brown Box"
- David Patrick of "Roosters Traffic Control"
- Geoff Cook
- Peter Moore
- Alan Evans of Evans Jewellery
- Judith Blight
- Ved Prasad, Lesley Smith & Staff of Macquarie Links GC
- Mick Walls
- Radio C91.3 Macarthur's own
- Campbelltown Golf Club
- Nick Bleasdale, Federal Labor candidate for Macarthur

We will post some more photos from the event soon. Again, thank you to everyone that attended - you made the night wonderful.

Liberty Swing

Liberty Swing

The Liberty Swing is designed for use by disabled children confined to a wheelchair. The swing gives these children the opportunity to experience the thrill of a playground swing without the need to leave their wheelchairs. Or as the inventor says:

"No more sitting on the edge and wondering what it would be like to fly through the air and feel the breeze on their faces."

If you were part of our evening, in any small way, you have helped a very deserving child fly! Thank you.
